This project was completed withina 3 day workshop held by Cengiz Mengük.
Cengiz’s studies into everyday design practices will be the starting point for the workshop week, where we will try to dissect our various design bubbles and the dominance of Western/modernist design values to discover alternative and inclusive perspectives and attitudes in design. How dominant is the Western bias in our aesthetic preferences, design tools, and other technologies - what are the real-life implications, and how can we unlearn? What are inspiring alternatives?
Through a series of workshops, field trips, and short exercises, we were encouraged to play, (re)invent our own narratives, and experiment with alternative design tools and software. The outcomes of the different workshops and exercises were collected in a collaborative document that was presented at the end of the week.
